An official of GMVN — an Uttarakhand government body with a vision to promote steady and sustainable growth of the travel and tourism sector in the state — added that the concept of the meditation cave was the Prime Minister’s idea. He wished to see pilgrims meditating in solitude when they visited the shrine after its restoration after the 2013 cloudburst disaster.
There is a table with bed, bell, heater, geyser and lamp for Rudra, where the Prime Minister meditates. Dry fruits and fresh fruits are offered to guests on arrival. Other caves have only a bed with other amenities charged separately. The main cave is available for ₹3,000 per night, while others are priced at ₹1,500 plus GST.
